To Add an E-Mail Account on Outlook Express

Microsoft Outlook Express is the most widely used E-Mail browser program. Here, we describe how to add your Alfa-1 e-mail accounts to your Outlook Express. Latest version of Outlook Express is 5.50. You can download this latest version from http://www.microsoft.com web site. Description here only applies to Alfa-1 Associates web hosting clients. Let's assume these: Domain name of your web site is mydomain.com; your email account is myaccount@mydomain.com. Your account name is given as "myacco" and password is given as "password" by Alfa-1 Associates. Your POP3 server name is given as mail.mydomain.com. SMTP server address of your ISP (Internet Service Provider) is mail.myisp.com. If you do not know the SMTP server address of your ISP, please contact your ISP.

Step 1 Open your Outlook Express program. On the Tools menu, click Accounts.

Step 2 In the Internet Accounts dialog box, click the Add button. Select Mail to open the Internet Connection Wizard, and then follow the instructions to establish a connection with mail server.

Step 3 On the Display name field of the Internet Connection Wizard, type your name or another name that will appear in the From field of your outgoing messages. For example, sales department of a company can use "Sales Department of the Company" as the name to be typed in this field. Then, hit next button.

Step 4 Type your e-mail account address, on the E-mail address field of the Internet Connection Wizard. This is "myaccount@mydomain.com" in our example case. Then, hit next button.

Step 5 Select POP3 for your incoming mail server. Fill the incoming mail server field with the address of POP3 server provided by Alfa-1. In our example, POP3 server is mail.mydomain.com. Type the outgoing mail server address provided by your Internet Service Provider (ISP) to outgoing mail (SMTP) server field. Then, hit next button. If you do not know the SMTP server address of your ISP, please contact your ISP.

Step 6 Type the account name and password Alfa-1 has given you. In our example, "myacco" is the account name and "password" is the password. Then, hit next button.

Step 7 To save your settings, click Finish button. Now, you can use your e-mail account for sending or receiving e-mails. For further information about using your Outlook Express efficiently, please click on Help button of your Outlook Express.
